Dear Fellow Hockey Fans,
On Wednesday March 21st at 7:15pm, at the Bell Sensplex, Ottawa has a chance to make something truly special happen. Many have seen the heart warming Budweiser Canada Superbowl Flash Fans , or the ImprovEverywhere Best Game Ever.
This is a chance to celebrate the efforts of a whole team of achieving young women from Nunavik, not only on the ice but in their classrooms and communities through the Nunavik Hockey Development Program, championed by former NHL player (and Senators alum) Joé Juneau. More information on NHDP here.
As they visit us for a tournament over the weekend, we open with a Friendship game against the Nepean Wildcats where we hope to pack the Sensplex full of supporters and to take donations for the girls and the NHDProgram. @Cestboncooking, a member of the bench staff that evening with the Nepean Wildcats, is look forward to offering our visiting players a hockey experience they will never forget.
Money and equipment donations there will be key. We’re hoping to bring in our famous local mascots, create a gift basket to raffle off on game day and simply show the girls how proud we are of all their hard work. Organizers (including @Sobbee), also plan to meet at the Sensplex early, with sign making supplies and really dress it up in the Nunavik Nordiques and Nepean Wildcats colours. Our hope is to turn this event into a giant celebration of our game and hope that you can help us roll out the red carpet for these amazing young women!
If we are able to offer other activities to Nordiques players, such as campus and sightseeing tours, a tour of Scotiabank Place, a meet and greet with leading women in sport, we will make every effort to facilitate that as well.
Get ready to put your best cheerleading face on, use the special sharpies and your brightest poster paper and see you at the game!
